Munich. Artist Peter Weismann is collecting stones from to banks of the river Isar in Upper Bavaria. On each of the stones he is engraving the name of a refugee, who lost his or her life crossing the Mediterranean Sea on the way to Europe. When finished, the artist takes the stone back to river.

“People ask me how long it will take to engrave more than 35,000 names on stones. It will take 35,000 deaths and every day, there will be more.”

I met Peter Weismann on Jully 5th, 2019, by incident in the backyard of Bellevue di Monaco, a café and cultural center providing jobs, help and assistance to refugees in Munich. He is just doing what he feels he has to. If you are in Munich, just go to Bellevue di Monaco. You will find him there engraving stones or walking the banks of the river collecting stones. This work will only end, when refugees will find a safe route to Europe.
